Chris Lougee

Chris was a Vice President at Icom America, Inc., in charge of Government and Industry Affairs, Federal Government Sales and Icom’s consumer divisions. During his 25 years with the company, he was responsible for Icom’s P25 product coordination and product management, working with the Engineering Department as a team member and liaison with the DHS Compliance Assessment Program and TIA TR8 Engineering Committees.

Chris was also active in the Land Mobile industry serving in leadership positions with a number of organizations:

  • Chair of the TIA Private Radio Section (PRS)
  • Member of several Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) TR-8 Engineering Committees
  • Treasurer of the Project 25 Technology Interest Group (PTIG)
  • TIA representative to the National Public Safety Telecommunications Council (NPSTC) governing board
  • TIA Voting Member Alternate to the Land Mobile Communications Council (LMCC)
  • Board of Directors member of the Enterprise Wireless Alliance (EWA)
  • Vice Chair of the NXDN Forum, the governing body that manages this new standard

  • IWCE Advisory Board

Chris met regularly with various members of the Public Safety & Homeland Security and Wireless Telecommunications Bureaus of the FCC as an advocate for TIA, LMCC, EWA and the LMR industry on issues and proposed rule changes. Chris has provided industry leadership and participation in several meaningful regulatory initiatives:

  • Non-standard frequency pairs in the 450-470 MHz band
  • Waiving the ban on 25 kHz technologies in radios for use in the 470-512 MHz band (“T-Band”)
  • Restitution of the P25 Compliance Assessment Program
  • DHS renewal/revision of P25 CAP SDoC and STR forms
  • P25 CAP requirement for 700 MHz Interoperability channels
  • TIA Petition for Reconsideration of the 700 MHz report and order
  • Configuration of 700 MHz deployable channels
  • PS FAC Certification Request
  • 800 MHz Interstitial Channels
  • Coordination of 6.25 kHz licenses
  • NFPA 1802 standard definition of radio equipment carried by active fire-ground personnel
  • ANSI/TIA-4950 Intrinsically Safe requirements for Portable Land Mobile Radio Applications

 Icom America Experience -

Chris created and led a Technical Sales Team to develop and deliver specific “mission critical and interoperable” products and services for Federal, State, and Local Government agencies and Self Maintained Commercial Enterprises. He started Icom America Systems as an enterprise within the Land Mobile Division in 2003. It has achieved steady growth each year by expanding offerings of systems products, total system design, implementation and field services. IAS provides “turn-key” RF systems solutions for Icom dealers, government and commercial enterprises. Chris also held positions of Land Mobile Division Manager, Amateur Division Manager, Government and Systems Manager and Operations manager at Icom America, Inc. He provided leadership for continuous increases in sales and market share.

Chris resides with his wife in Napa, California enjoying all the activities offered in the bay area.
